MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's lacrosse team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Salve Regina, 12-7 on Saturday afternoon at the Walter M. Katz Field. The loss drops the Colonels to 8-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while the Seahawks improve to 8-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Salve Regina got the scoring started early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead three minutes in on goals from Alex Makoske and Dana Sundell. The Colonels possessed the ball for the next five minutes, finally netting their first goal of the game. Sophomore Matt Serra (Haverhill, Mass.) took a pass from Freshman Devin Newell (Medford, Mass.). The Seahawks responded with their third goal of the quarter, when Nick LoCicero found Andrew Fera. Eric Backus found the back of the net at the end of the quarter to give Salve a 4-1 lead going into the quarter.

Curry and Salve Regina traded goals in the first four minutes of the second quarter, Locicero found the net for his second of the day and Senior Joe Shea (Arlington, Mass.) found the back of the twine to cut to make the score 5-2 four minutes into the quarter. Serra found Junior Joe Grogan (Sandwich, Mass.) wide open in front of the net. 37 seconds later, Serra ripped a shot far side to beat the keeper to make it a one goal game with eight minutes left in the second quarter. Freshman Wade Prajer (Southbury, Conn.) tied the game for the Colonels at the six minute mark. Serra completed his hat trick one minute later on an assist from Prajer. Curry took a 6-5 lead into the half.

The Colonels and Seahawks traded goals back and forth in the third quarter. Salve Regina got the scoring started in the quarter on goals from Backus and Mokoske to take a 7-6 lead. Curry evened the score ten minutes into the quarter; J. Grogan found the back of the net near side from just outside the crease. Salve netted one more in the quarter, from Fera, to take an 8-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

Salve never looked back after grabbing the lead at the end of the fourth, tallying four more goals in the fourth quarter to finish the game by a score of 12-8. Matt D'Amore got the win for the Seahawks, making 11 saves on 18 shots faced. Shane O'Brien to the loss for the Colonels while making 11 saves on 23 shots faced.

Curry returns to the field Wednesday April 6 when they host Endicott College in a 3:30 game start. Salve Regina also returns to the field on Wednesday April 6 when they travel to Nichols College.
