MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's lacrosse team earned their seventh-straight win defeating visiting Johnson & Wales, 9-7 on Wednesday afternoon at the Walter M. Katz Field.  With the win the Colonels remain undefeated at 7-0 while the loss drops the Wildcats to 4-4 on the season.

The Colonels got on the board 45 seconds into the first period after sophomore Steve Grogan (Sandwich, Mass.) won the opening faceoff.  At 14:15 Yates tallied his first goal on the day off a feed from Serra.  Just 18 seconds later Curry notched another score off the stick of junior Brandon Flaim (Pembroke, Mass.) with an assist from freshman Ryan Ofgant (Natick, Mass.). The Wildcats responded minutes later after freshman Ben Farrell (Downingtown, Pa.) scored his first of two off a pass from freshman Bret Verderber (St. James, N.Y.).  Freshman MJ Urbano (Wakefield, Mass.) tallied the final goal of the period sending the Colonels into the second with a 3-1 advantage.

JWU opened the third period scoring back-to-back goals to take a 5-3 lead.  Verderber found the back of the net when he received a pass from sophomore Sam Sears (Baltimore, Md.).  Stone found an open sophomore Brian Peer (Huntington, N.Y.) in front of the net for his lone tally.  Curry answered back off a goal by junior Dominick Marcella (Hull, Mass.), assisted by Urbano.  The teams traded goals over the final minutes of the period with the Wildcats getting another from Lyle with Stone earning his third helper on the day.  Senior Joe Shea (Arlington, Mass.) buried a pass from sophomore Tom Cashin (Boxford, Mass.) into the back of the twine to come within one of the visitors at 6-5 before the final period.
