MILTON, Mass. – Curry College Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione has announced the appointment of Timothy J. Murphy of Bangor, Maine as head men’s lacrosse coach.

“We are excited to have Tim Murphy as our new men’s lacrosse coach at Curry College,” said Eruzione.  “Tim values the student aspect of student-athlete and understands the importance of being held accountable on the playing fieldand in the classroom.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the young men of the Curry Lacrosse program,” said Murphy.  The combination of the academic offerings, small community feel, and vision of the athletic department, make Curry College feel like home.  This is a great time to be a Colonel, and I am looking forward to the journey ahead.”

Murphy comes to Curry after reaching an unprecedented level of success at the helm of the Husson University men’s lacrosse program, where he guided the Eagles to their first-ever appearance in the ECAC Division III New England Tournament.

Prior to Husson, Murphy served as an assistant coach at Franklin Pierce University where he helped the Ravens earn the most wins in program history, as well as the program's first winning record at home.

Before coaching at Franklin Pierce, Murphy was an assistant coach at St. Andrews Presbyterian College (NC). While at St. Andrews, he served as the defensive coordinator in 2008 and the offensive coordinator in 2009.

Previous to his two seasons at St. Andrews, he worked as the top assistant for Merrimack College during the 2006 season. Murphy spent the 2005 season as an assistant coach at the University of Southern Maine as well as Kennebunk High, his former high school.

A native of Kennebunk, Maine, Murphy was a four-year starter at the attack position while at Merrimack College.
