BEVERLY, Mass. - The Curry College men's ice hockey team saw its 2021-22 season come to an end in heartbreaking fashion on Wednesday evening, falling to #13 Endicott College 2-1 in sudden death overtime in the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

With the loss, Curry's season ends with an overall record of 16-9-2. Endicott advance to the CCC Championship against the University of New England on Saturday.

Curry opened the scoring just 1:14 into the first period when junior Timmy Kent (Parkland, Fla.) converted on a broken 3-on-3. It appeared that Endicott had broken up the play, but the puck ended up on the stick of Kent on the slot who buried his league-leading 21st goal of the season. Mark Zhukov (St. Petersburg, Russia) and Kalle Sundell (Helsinki, Finland) were credited with helpers on the goal.

Endicott leveled the score five and a half minutes into the second when Mitch Shaheen potted his 10th goal of the season. The score would remain tied for the remainder of the second, sending the game to the third level at 1-1.

Despite a handful of chances both ways in the final frame, neither team found the back of the net, forcing sudden death overtime.

At the 5:50 mark of the third, Endicott ended Curry's season when Zach Mazur walked in off the half wall and wristed a shot over the blocker of Curry netminder Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Saskatchewan).

Cooper finished the contest with 41 saves in the losing effort.
