Hockey Clipped By Endicott in Final Minute on Senior Day

CANTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's ice hockey team was clipped by Endicott College in the final minute of 2-1 final on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Senior Day. Prior to the contest, the program honored its five seniors in a special ceremony.  

The Gulls (20-5-0 overall, 16-2-0 CCC) were first to get on the scoreboard with 3:13 left in the opening period. Freshman Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.) scored on the power play for his 14th goal of the season. The assists were awarded to senior James Winkler (York, Maine) and graduate student Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.). Endicott held a 14-8 shot advantage after the first frame.

After a scoreless second, each team netted goals in the third. The Colonels (17-5-3 overall, 12-4-2 CCC) tallied the equalizer with 4:31 remaining in regulation on a power play goal by sophomore Nick Magill-Diaz (Troy, Mich.). Senior Billy Vizzo (Shelton, Conn.) and sophomore Mic Curran (Arlington, Mass.) came away with the helpers.

Sophomore Azan Dorsett (McKinney, Texas) scored the game-winner with 53 ticks left to give the Gulls the one-goal victory. Freshman Elliott Clemmons (Rochester, N.Y.) was awarded the assist on the marker.

Endicott closed the game with a 34-30 advantage in the shot category. Both teams finished 1-for-6 on the power play.

Sophomore Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) played the first 52:35 before giving way to classmate Elijah Harris (Haverhill, Mass.) for the final 7:25. O'Brien made 28 saves while Harris was credited with the win, converting one stop. Senior goaltender Justin Ketola (Cloquet, Minn.) recorded 32 saves in net in the loss.

Both teams have qualified for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament with the official announcement coming later this weekend.
