Hockey to Host Annual Teddy Bear Toss Fundraiser This Friday

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College hockey team's annual Teddy Bear Toss charity game will be held on Friday, December 7 when the Colonels take on the UMass Boston Beacons. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Curry College hockey team has hosted this charity event. This year's event is in conjunction with Hockey Cares For Kids, an organization whose mission is to utilize the game of hockey to enhance the quality of life of economically underprivileged youth. The annual Teddy Bear Toss event has been raising money and collecting bears/toys for the less fortunate during the holiday season since its initiation in 2014 and continues to have an emotional impact on recipients and participants alike.

In the week leading up to the game, the players from the hockey team will have a booth set up in the Student Center for people to buy a Teddy Bear Toss T-shirt, buy a teddy bear to toss or make a donation of some kind. Then during the game, once the Colonels score their first goal you get to throw your teddy bear on to the ice in celebration of the goal.

"This event is one small way we can give back to the community and we look forward to it each year," said senior defenseman Mack Heisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba). "The goal of this game is to get the campus and community involved, creating a memorable night for people at the rink, and a memorable holiday season for those we are trying to help."

The game will take place at 6:50 on Friday at Max Ulin Rink at 11 Unquity Road in Milton. Bears will be available at the door. Please note that attendees will receive free admission with a stuffed animal. if you are bringing your own stuffed animal, please keep it in the original package and put in a plastic bag. Some charities will only accept it this way.
