WORCESTER, Mass. – The Curry College men's ice hockey team flew past Becker College, 9-3, on Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Arena. With the win the Colonels improve to 2-0-1 and 1-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) while the loss drops the Hawks to 0-3-0 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Curry was first to get on the board in the first period. Michael Snow (Medford, Mass.) tacked on the opening tally with the assist going to Zach White (Milford, Conn.). Becker answered back at the 12:39 mark of the frame with a goal from Tyler Forest (Simi Valley, Calif.) off a pass from Trey McMillen (Grapevine, Texas). The squads traded the final three markers of the period. Kasper Kjellkvist (Vaxjo, Sweden), Jake Cagnina (South Berwick, Maine), and Viktor Jannson (Stockholm, Sweden) all found the back of the net as the Colonels held a 3-2 advantage after the first frame.

Curry broke the game open in the second period, scoring four straight goals, the first two on the power play. Snow and White netted the first two markers while Mack Heisinger (Winnipeg, Mainitoba) and Tristan Morin (Unionville, Conn.) had the final two tallies. Assists in the frame went to Joseph Thielen (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Lionel Mauron (Lausanne, Switzerland), White, Kalle Sundell (Helsinki, Finland), and Jordan Williamson (Okotoks, AB). Becker tacked on its lone goal of the period at the 13:57 mark as Cagnina registered his second of the contest, this time on the power play with the assists going to Charles Costello (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Jason Diamond (Lakeville, Conn.) to make the score 7-3 with one period of regulation left.

The final period saw the Colonels tally two unanswered scores. The Colonels netted a power play and even strength goal. Snow completed a hat trick with a goal at the 5:30 mark with the assists going to Heisinger and Mauron. Snow put up one more score at the 14:38 mark, this time with the assists going to Mauron and White.  

The Colonels outshot the Hawks, 54-26 and were 4-for-7 on the PP while Becker was 1-for-4.

Curry's Vladimir Cibulka (Bratislava, Slovakia) recorded 23 saves in net for the win. Becker's Grant Martens (Bloomington, Minn.) made 25 stops before giving way to junior Cody Foster (Saugus, Calif.) who tallied 20 saves.

The Colonels will return to action on Saturday, November 3 for its home opener against the same Becker Hawks at 4:50 at the Max Ulin Rink.
