Hockey Participates in Intrasquad Pay It Forward Challenge

MILTON, Mass. – Over the course of the academic break, the Curry College Men's Hockey team was back here in Milton. They were hard at work, practicing and preparing while posting a 6-1 record over the break. The players, however, found time to go out a do something nice for someone while not getting anything in return.  The challenge was to give back.

The team divided into six groups. One group went through the Dunkin Donuts drive-thru a few times in the week and paid for the person behind them in hopes of starting a chain reaction. Another group of players went to Stop & Shop as they helped bag people's groceries and bring them out to their cars. Two groups of players bought non-perishable food items and donated them to the local food pantries in the surrounding communities.  We had some players show up at the local firehouse and bring donuts and coffee to the firefighters.  Those players stayed and talked, and were given a tour of the firehouse.  Last but not least, we had a group of players spend the afternoon at a retirement home delivering flowers to the elderly as well as just visiting and chatting with them.

Looking back on this, the players felt it was a great thing to do, and it really put into perspective how such a little thing for the players, made such a big difference in someone's day.
