Hockey Edges Bryn Athyn 3-2 in Non-Conference Action

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey suffered a 3-2 loss to Curry in the Lions' first action in a month Friday night in Wintersport Ice Sports.

The Colonels' Phil Kiss scored what would be the game-winning goal just 18 seconds into the second period with an assist from Adam Valadao. It was Kiss' second goal of the 2017-18 season.

After falling behind, Bryn Athyn—who were outshot 45-20 in the contest—fired 15 pucks at Curry goalie Cody Murch, but couldn't come up with the equalizer. Murch finished up with 18 saves for the Colonels (8-5-1).

Bryn Athyn (5-6-0) needed just 9:15 to jump out to a 2-0 first-period advantage. Alec Grollman opened the scoring at the 8:10 mark with his fifth goal of the season, tying him with Julion Lever for the team lead in goals. Tanner Congdon and Zach Pamaylaon both assists on the game's first goal. At 9:15, Alex Doyle extended the gap to two when he scored his third goal of the year with an assist from Alex Tan.

Just under one minute later, Zachery White tallied an unassisted goal to cut the Bryn Athyn to 2-1. Lionel Mauron capped off the period by scoring the tying goal at 14:05. Jarret Kup and Michael Snow picked up assists on the goal.

McKenzie Chalmers stopped 42 shots, one shy of his career high, in the Bryn Athyn net.

Neither team had any power-play success as the Lions were 0-for-2 and the Colonels were scoreless on three opportunities.
