MILTON, Mass. --- The Curry College men's ice hockey team defeated visiting Lake Forest, 4-2, on Saturday at the Max Ulin Rink in Milton. With the win the Colonels improve to 7-5-1 overall while the loss drops the Foresters to 7-6 on the season.

The teams battled each other to a scoreless first period.  Shots were 12-9 in favor of the Foresters.

A combined five goals were scored in the second frame.  Curry struck first with just 1:55 off the clock.  The Colonels' junior Lionel Mauron (Lausanne, Switzerland) one-timed a shot that sailed over the shoulder of Lake Forest's junior netminder George Argiropoulos (Toronto, Ontario.).  Mauron earned assists from freshmen Mike Snow (Medford, Mass.) and Joseph Thielen (Huntington Beach, Calif.). A little over two minutes later Curry's sophomore Jordan Williamson (Okotoks, AB) fired one in past Argiropoulos. Senior Ryan Fitzgerald (Cary, N.C.) had the assist. Midway through the period the Foresters got on the board with a short-handed tally.  Junior Drew Cleereman (Green Bay, Wis.) intercepted a Colonel pass in the neutral zone and skated with the puck alone before he snapped off a shot past the glove of  freshman netminder Frank Cundiff (Oceanside, N.Y.).  Curry answered back 49 seconds later to push the score to 3-1.  Senior Adam Valadao (Ajax, Ontario) won the face-off and sent the puck to classmate Shane Tracy (Bow, N.H.) before finding an open junior Mack Heisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba) in front of the net.  Heisinger took a slap shot for the eventual game-winner.  With 2:05 remaining in the stanza the Colonels netted their final goal on the day.  Freshman Kasper Kjellkvist (Vaxjo, Sweden) tipped in the puck off helpers from Valadao and Tracy.

The Foresters cut the Colonels lead down to two 9:15 into the final stanza. Sophomore Austin Aksoy (Lewiston, N.Y.) put home a rebound with help from freshman Joe Sardina (Red Oak, Texas) and senior George Gerasimou (Charlotte, N.C.).  Despite Lake Forest pulling their goaltender with four minutes to play, they fell short putting up another score.  Cundiff was strong between the pipes holding the visitors to the lone goal.

The Foresters outshot the Colonels, 40-21. Curry was 0-6 on the PP and Lake Forest was 0-5.

Cundiff recorded an impressive 38 saves in net for the win.  Argiropoulous made 12 stops allowing all four goals through two periods taking the loss before giving way to freshman Boyd DiClemente (Peterborough, Ontario) who finished out the game with five saves.

Curry is next in action on Friday, January 5 when they travel to Bryn Athyn for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.  Lake Forest is also back in action on Friday when they host St. Norbert in a 7:00 p.m. game start.
