Hockey Falls 3-0 at Becker College in ECAC Northeast Action

MALBOROUGH, Mass.- Becker Tyler Stepke (Mars, Pa.) made 50 saves in net as the Ice Hawks defeated Curry College 3-0 in ECAC Northeast men's ice hockey action Saturday evening at the New England Sports Center. The win lifts the Ice Hawks record to 7-11-1 (3-6-1 ECAC NE) while the Colonels fall to 7-11-2 (3-7-1 ECAC NE).

After a scoreless first period, Becker took the lead when Gerald Owen (Chesapeake, Va.) scored on a two man advantage 8:57 into the second. Owen gave the Ice Hawks a 2-0 lead when he scored with a wrist shot from the right point with 1:01 remaining in the second.

Curry had plenty of chances to get on the board in the third period with five power play opportunities, but Stepke and the Ice Hawks held their ground. Corey Sherman (Hilton, N.Y.) added an empty netter with ten seconds remaining in regulation to preserve the 3-0 victory.

Becker went 1-5 on power plays while Curry was 0-7. The Colonels finished with a game-high 50 shots and the Ice Hawks 25.

Brett Sinclair (St. Catharines, Ont.) suffered the loss after making 22 stops for the Colonels.

Becker returns to ECAC Northeast action on Wednesday, February 3rd with a 7:35 p.m. tilt at Salve Regina. Curry will host Suffolk University on Thursday, February 4th at 6:45 p.m.  (Game Recap Courtesy of Becker Sports Information)
