Heisinger Nominated for 2016 BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian Award

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Curry College Forward Jake Heisinger has been nominated to receive the 2016 BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian Award, it was announced Wednesday.

Heisinger, who was also nominated for the 2015 Hockey Humanitarian Award, has been the driving force behind the establishment of Curry College's annual "Teddy Bear Toss" to benefit children at the Dana Farber Children's Hospital Cancer Center.

"[We are] very proud of Jake's leadership and vision to bring the Teddy Bear Toss to life at Curry College," said Curry Head Coach TJ Manastersky. "It started as an idea to help provide joy to children in the hospital over the holidays and has grown to an annual event that captures the spirit of Curry College as it brings our community together in support of a terrific cause."

The Hockey Humanitarian Award is presented annually to college hockey's finest citizen – a student-athlete who makes significant contributions not only to his or her team, but also to the community-at-large through leadership in volunteerism.

Finalists for the 2016 BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian Award will be announced in February. The recipient will be recognized on Friday, April 8 as part of the NCAA Men's Frozen Four weekend in Tampa, Fla. (Story Courtesy of ECAC Northeast)
