Hockey Absorbs 2-0 Loss at Hamilton College

CLINTON, N.Y. - Hamilton College's Joe Quattrocchi '14 tied a season high with 32 saves and recorded his third career shutout in the Continentals' 2-0 non-conference win against Curry College at the Clinton Arena on Dec. 31.

Quattrocchi entered the afternoon with a 2.65 goals against average and .904 save percentage. He stopped 16 shots in the third period alone. Hamilton owns a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series with the Colonels, including a 6-5 overtime win in last season's matchup.

Mike DiMare '14 scored his first goal this season and added an assist for Hamilton (2-5-2 overall). Matt Tetro '16 tallied his first goal with the Continentals, and Dom Jancaterino '14 and Peter Michailidis '16 were credited with one assist apiece.

Joe Dawson '13 turned away 24 shots for Curry (5-5-1). The Colonels were shut out for the second time this season. Tufts University blanked Curry 6-0 on Nov. 20.

Hamilton struck first just 2:20 into the first period on a power-play goal. Jancaterino held the puck on the right side, sent a pass to DiMare at the point and he found Tetro open in front for the score. The Colonels went on the power play with 6:07 remaining in the first, and tallied four of their nine shots of the opening frame.

Neither team got on the board in the second period. Hamilton put 12 shots on goal and controlled the puck for most of the period. The best opportunity came nine minutes in when a shot by Andrew White ’13 was stopped by Dawson. Anthony Ruberto ’13 collected the rebound in front and fired a shot that was also turned away.

The Continentals extended their lead 3:42 into the third period. DiMare beat Dawson top shelf on a one-timer from the right circle after he received a drop pass from Michailidis.

Curry's Casey Brugman '13 had a good look from the right circle with less than nine minutes remaining, but Quattrocchi made the stop. After the Colonels gathered the rebound, Dominic Puntillo '16 blasted a shot from the top of the left circle, but Quattrocchi made the save again.

The Colonels held a 32-26 shot advantage, but went 0-for-6 on the power play. Curry's special teams killed a 5-minute major penalty that started late in the first period and extended 1 minute, 53 seconds into the second. Hamilton was 1-for-7 on power-play opportunities.

The Continentals host Colby College in NESCAC action back on campus on Friday, Jan. 4. The Colonels travel to the University of Wisconsin-Superior to take on Finlandia on Friday. (Game Recap Courtesy of Hamilton Sports Information)
