WESTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team was defeated by non-conference opponent Regis College in an 94-82 final on Saturday afternoon at Higgins Court.

In the opening half, neither team held more than a nine-point advantage as the Pride enjoyed a 48-41 edge at halftime. Junior Marc Trinidad (Bronx, N.Y.) led all scorers at the break with 11 points, while the Colonels were paced by senior Kieran Carroll (Greenwich, Conn.) with nine points. Trinidad was 3-for-6 from the field and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Carroll hit on 4-for-6 from the floor to highlight the stanza.

In the second period, Regis maintained its lead and began to pull away 7:53 through the half. After a layup by senior Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) with 16:42 to play closed the Curry's deficit to 11 (57-46), the Pride built its largest lead of the contest following a 13-3 run to give them a commanding 70-48 lead with 12:07 to play. The burst featured six points from freshman Justin Evelyn (Uniondale, N.Y.).

The Colonels closed to within six with 3:51 remaining in regulation when freshman Angelo Sardegna (Lutz, Fla.) converted a trey, but that's as close as Curry would get. Regis would go on to outscore the Colonels 13-7 over the remainder of the game to set the final score at 94-82.

Junior Devante Thompson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Evelyn guided the Pride with 16 points apiece. Trinidad and senior Dimitri Rosa (Tiverton, R.I.) pitched in 12 points and four rebounds each while classmate Josh Germain (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) finished with 10 points, four boards, four assists, and four steals.

Curry was led by Sardegna's season-high 18 points while classmate Michael Ashley (North Atlanta, Ga.) also concluded the game with a season-high 16 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor, and six rebounds off the bench. Thorpe-Johnson rounded out the Colonels' scorers in double figures with 14 points, eight caroms, two assists, and one steal.  

Curry (3-3 overall) will enjoy 10 days off before its next game as they will travel to Roger Williams University on Wednesday, December 4 for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener. Regis (1-3 overall) remains home to host Framingham State on Tuesday, November 26 at 6:00 p.m.
