Busacca and Reedy Announce Incoming Recruiting Class

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team will have a lot of new faces in the program at the start of the next season. This year's recruiting class includes 12 high level student-athletes and include players from six different states: Florida, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The class consists of state champions, All- State members, 1,000 point scorers and some impressive work in the classroom and the community.

Read below to learn more about each student-athlete and thoughts from Head Coach Joe Busacca:

Luke Townsend

Luke Townsend – Holy Cross High School – Queens, New York – Luke played on one of the top teams in New York City. Luke is an elite shooter with an extremely high IQ. Luke will be a huge asset for us when he arrives on campus.

Angelo Sardegna 

Angelo Sardegna – Steinbrenner High School – Lutz, Florida – Angelo averaged 18ppg during his senior year while grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists. We are extremely excited about Angelo's future here at Curry.

 

Angel Dejesus

Angel Dejesus – Weaver High School – Hartford, Connecticut – Angel was a 1,000 point scorer in high school and is someone that will bring elite shot making and defense to our program for years to come.

 Michael Ashley

Michael Ashley – North Atlanta High School – Atlanta, Georgia – Michael was one of the top rebounders and shot blockers in Atlanta. We are hoping that he continues that in the college ranks. He will be a special piece for us moving forward.

Nabi Mwesiga 

Nabi Mwesiga – St. Peter's High School- Staten Island, New York – Nabi is going to provide us with a championship pedigree. He played a vital role on two Island Championship teams and we are expecting him to bring that level of winning to Curry.

Cecil Villa

Cecil Villa- Putnam Academy – Springfield, Massachusetts – Cecil is the definition of 3 and D. He was the best defender on a Western Mass State Championship team and we are excited about his future at Curry.

Zac Rafano

Zac Rafano – South River High School – South River, New Jersey – Zac is the definition of a lead guard. He played at a high level on the AAU circuit with the NJ Roadrunners. Zac will be a tremendous leader when he steps on our campus.

Mike August 

Mike August – Stratford High School – Stratford, Connecticut – Mike is the definition of tough. He was honorable mention All- State and will provide us with immediate offense as well as leadership.

Frankie Santiago

Frankie Santiago – Newbury College – New Britain, Connecticut – Frankie will provide us with college experience. He played a huge role in helping Newbury make it to the conference championship game while averaging 9 PPG, 3 RPG, and 2 APG. 

Brandon Holland

Brandon Holland – Capital Prep – Bridgeport, Connecticut – Brandon Holland was First Team GAC North. He averaged 21ppg during his senior year while scoring 42 in a playoff game. We are excited about his arrival to campus.

Mike Perez

Mike Perez – Palm Glades High School – Palm Glades, Florida – Mike Perez is an elite defender and shooter. We are excited about his toughness and pedigree that he will be bringing to campus.

Kevin Benitez

Kevin Benitez - Miami Springs High School - Miami, Florida - Kevin is one of the toughest competitors we have seen in quite a while. He has amazing vision and will be one of the better playmakers on our team for years to come. We are excited about his toughness that he will be bringing to our program. 

"We are extremely excited about the class we are bringing in," said Busacca. "Coach Reedy has really done a tremendous job of establishing relationships and making sure they don't only fit our program, but our school as well. Each one of these student-athletes have something unique that they bring to the table, but the best part about each young man is the dedication to their school work, families and the game they love. They embody our mantra of BBTY in every single aspect of their life."
