Thorpe-Johnson Earns CCC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Curry College junior Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) has been named as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Thorpe-Johnson set a new conference single-game record in points scored this week as he dropped 59 points on 22-for-29 (75.9 percent) shooting against the University of New England. He also added 10 rebounds in that game. It is currently the second highest individual scoring performance in Division III this year. He kept his hot hand going later in the week with 29 points against Western New England. He had six rebounds against the Golden Bears. For the week, he averaged 44.0 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 66.7 percent (32-for-48).

Thorpe-Johnson and the Colonels (1-20 overall, 0-12 CCC) return home to host Gordon on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m.
