Men's Basketball Drops CCC Opener at Endicott, 105-58

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team dropped a 105-58 decision to Endicott College on Wednesday night in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener for both teams at the MacDonald Gymnasium.

Nick Thibeault (Gorham, Maine) racked up a team-high 16 points on a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, including 2-for-2 from distance. Thibeault also put up six rebounds and one assist. Joe Shehadi (Dorset, Vt.) and Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) were the final Gull starters in double figure scoring with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Vinnie Clifford (Danvers, Mass.) paced the reserves with 11 points off the bench. With the win, Endicott improved to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the CCC, while the Colonels dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in league play.

The Gulls used stifling defense as it forced 25 turnovers while committing just 13. Endicott finished 15-for-37 from three-point range, while the Colonels were held to 6-for-20 from beyond the arc.

Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) led Curry with a game-high 20 points on 5-for-16 shooting. Louis Stein (Mount Olive, N.J.) and Spencer Feng (Keene, N.H.) added eight and seven points, respectively. Mackenzie Purry (Jackson, N.J.) grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Colonels on the glass.

The teams were deadlocked at 12 at the 10:54 mark of the first half, nearly halfway through the frame. Endicott grabbed the lead quickly and extended it to 28 heading into the halftime intermission, 46-18.  

The Gulls opened the second half with a 7-0 run and never looked back. Endicott pushed the lead to 47 in the final stanza as they shot a stifling 66 percent from the floor and 43 percent from three-point range.

Curry will next play at Gordon College on Saturday, December 1 at 3:00 p.m. Endicott returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Nichols College for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
