MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team ended the season with a 70-56 loss to Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Katz Gymnasium. Prior to the contest, the program honored its two seniors: Barak Swarttz (Newton, Mass.) and John Coleman (Warwick, R.I.) in a special Senior Day ceremony. 

Eastern Nazarene guard/forward Josh Rice (Hanson, Mass.) scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Lions. Jacob Waldroop (Newland, N.C.) pitched in a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards while Noah Cheney (Bend, Ore.) closed out the Eastern Nazarene student-athletes in double figures with 10 points. The sophomore added five rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 32 minutes of action.  Eastern Nazarene (7-16 overall, 3-15 CCC) received a team-high seven points and a game-high 14 rebounds (seven offensive) off the bench from David Lopez (Miami, Fla.).

The Colonels (1-24 overall, 1-17 CCC) were led by Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) with 22 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Coleman finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Kieran Carroll (Greenwich, Conn.) added nine points and two boards off the bench.

Curry played a strong opening half, shooting an even 50 percent (14-for-28) from the floor, including 4-for-10 from distance. The squads played an even 10 minutes of the half as the teams were knotted at 17 with 9:04 remaining. The lead went back to the Lions and they were able to get a little separation with a four-point lead with 7:22 left when Andrew Mitchell (Campobello, S.C.) converted on a free throw opportunity to make the score, 25-21. The advantage went back to the Colonels as Thorpe-Johnson knocked down a three with less than two minutes left in the stanza, 36-31. A jump shot from Trey'von Davis (Moore, S.C.) and a free throw by Cheney cut the deficit to two 36-34 at the break.

Eastern Nazarene rallied in the second stanza, slowly chipping away at the Curry lead before pulling within two 10:39 to go on a Waldroop layup. The Lions closed the game strong as they captured the contest by a 70-56 final.  

This marked the final contest of the season for both teams.
