MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team added a special recruit to their program on Monday afternoon. Malachi Harris, an eighth grader from Stoughton currently battling Hemophilia B, signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Colonels through the College's relationship with Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization that connects children facing serious and chronic illnesses to local college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes.

"Curry College student-athletes pride themselves in being successful, not only on the playing fields and in the classroom, but more importantly in the community," said Vinnie Eruzione, Curry College Athletic Director. "The relationship the past ten years with Team IMPACT has been invaluable, not only to the children we draft onto our teams but also our student-athletes. It is just one way our student-athletes can make a difference in someone else's life and for them to make a difference in our lives."

The athletic department prides themselves on their relationship with Team IMPACT and having student-athletes being involved in the community.

"Through Team IMPACT, these new members of our hockey, football, women's lacrosse, soccer, softball, and now men's basketball teams will always be our number one recruits," said Eruzione. "The strength, determination, and sacrifices they show every day are truly inspirational and they serve as role models for student-athletes."  

Eruzione went on to say, "Our athletic teams and student-athletes are constantly involved throughout the community as volunteers. They have worked at road races, cancer walks, Easter egg hunts, Halloween events, learn to skate programs, and reading days at the local elementary schools, just to name a few. We pride ourselves here at Curry College in giving back."
