Nichols Races Past Men's Basketball, 100-68

MILTON, Mass. – Nichols College shot 51 percent from the floor and 35 percent from three-point range in a 100-68 win over Curry College on Tuesday night in conference men's basketball action at the Katz Gymnasium.

Nichols' Jerome Cunningham (Westbury, N.Y.) and Nate Tenaglia (Tewksbury, Mass.) led all scorers with 18 apiece. Cunningham was an efficient 7-for-8 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe. The sophomore added 13 rebounds in 25 minutes of action. Tenaglia's 18 points came from 6-for-12 shooting, including 4-for-5 from distance. A total of six Bison scored in double figures on the night, including Marcos Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) and Matt Morrow (Leicester, Mass.) who notched double-double performances of 12 points, 10 assists, and 17 points, 13 rebounds, respectively.

John Coleman (Warwick, R.I.) and Spencer Feng (Keene, N.H.) 13 and 10 points apiece to pace the Colonels. Coleman grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds while Barak Swarttz (Newton, Mass.) and Feng each handed out four assists.

The Bison never trailed and built a double-digit lead just three minutes into the contest. Nichols did its damage from distance as seven of the Bison's 21 field goals in the first half came as the three-point variety. Cunningham had 14 points by the break as Nichols led by a 57-32 margin.

The story was the same in the second half as the Bison continued to play an up-tempo pace. Nichols took care of the basketball (14 turnovers) and consistently found the open man, finishing with 24 assists on 38 field goals. Seven different players recorded at least one assist as the Bison captured the conference victory by a 32 point margin.

Curry (1-12 overall, 0-6 CCC) will return to action on January 11 at Western New England at 5:30 p.m. Nichols (10-2 overall, 4-1 CCC) will next play at home against Salve Regina University on Thursday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m.
