Men's Basketball Comes Up Short Against Gordon in CCC Play, 86-66

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Curry in its home season opener and shot 53.0 percent from the field in its 86-66 win. The Fighting Scots improve to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action. The Colonels slip to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in league play.

The Fighting Scots (2-3, 1-2) started off the game with a 17-10 run for a seven-point lead. They stretched the lead out to 19 points with a 31-19 run with three minutes left in the half. The Colonels (1-7, 0-3) cut the lead down to 17 points to make it a 50-33 game at halftime.

Garrisson Duvivier scored his 1,000th career point at the 5:00 mark of the first half. He finished the half with eight points. Eric Demers scored 16 points and made four three-pointers. Jake Haar scored 11 points and knocked down three shots from behind the arc. Jaren Yang dished out eight of his nine assists in the half. Gordon also shot 57.6 percent from the floor and made nine three-pointers.

The Fighting Scots stretched their lead out to 31 points with a 14-0 run to start the second half. They led by as much as 34 before Curry cut the deficit to 20 points by the end of the game with a 25-11 run.

Demers finished the game with 22 points, four steals, three rebounds, and two blocks. Duvivier recorded ten points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and one steal. He now sits 21st all-time in scoring with 1,003 points and is 40 points behind Park Thomas for 20th place. Parker Omslaer blocked a career-high five shots and Yang tied his career-high in assists with nine.

Justin Kelley (Medford, Mass.) led the Colonels with 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting. John Coleman (Warwick, R.I.) pitched in a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds while RJ Hadfield (Warwick, R.I.) rounded out the Curry student-athletes in double digit scoring with 10 points and added two rebounds.

Gordon next hosts Becker in non-conference action Dec. 9 at 3:00 p.m. Curry returns to action Dec. 9 at home against Emerson at 3:00 p.m.
