Men's Basketball Absorbs a 75-46 Home Loss to Non-Conference Foe Brandeis

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Men's Basketball team was defeated by visiting Brandeis University, 75-46, in non-conference action Saturday night in Milton. The Judges extended their win streak to four, improving to 5-5 on the season. The Colonels dropped their fifth in a row and fell to 2-8 overall.

Brandeis took its biggest lead of the first frame (32-13) after freshman Nate Meehan (Lowell, Mass.) made a pair of free throws with 3:05 on the clock. Sophomore Paul Preziosi's  (Quincy, Mass.) made layup with seven seconds remaining capped off the first-half scoring, and trimmed Curry's deficit to 13 (34-21) heading into the break.

The Judges opened the second half with a made layup by sophomore Tim Reale (36-21), then proceeded to outscore Curry 19-8 through the first 10 minutes. Sophomore James Pina (Warwick, R.I.) tried to keep the Colonels close, scoring 10 of his team-high 18 points over the final 20 minutes. But with 31 seconds on the clock, Meehan drained a three from beyond the arc, accounting for the 75-46 final.

Sophomore John Powell (Ashland, Mass.) notched a double-double with team bests in points (17) and rebounds (13). Classmate Robinson Vilmont (Cambridge, Mass.) contributed 15 points.

In addition to his team-high 18 points, Pina also pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.

Both teams return to action Tuesday night, as the Judges travel to Bates College for a 5:00 p.m. contest, while Curry travels to league rival Nichols College for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
