Men's Basketball Defeated by Visiting Nichols, 91-75

MILTON, Mass. – Nichols College shot 61.5% from the field in a 91-75 victory over Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action Tuesday night in Milton. The Bison improved to 6-4 on the season and 3-1 in league play, while the Colonels fell to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in conference action.

Nichols took its biggest lead of the first frame (50-32) after junior Joe Gallant (Salem, N.H.) sank a shot from beyond the arc with 51 seconds on the clock. Freshman Rodney Beldo (Dorchester, Mass.) answered with a three-point play to cap off the first half scoring, trimming Curry's deficit to 15 (50-35) heading into the break.

Senior Carlos Ribeiro (Charlestown, Mass.) opened the second half with a three-pointer to cut the lead to 12 (50-38). The Bison scored the next eight points, culminating with a three-point play by senior Ryan Sheehan (North Attleboro, Mass.) with 17:40 remaining in regulation. With 3:26 on the clock, the Colonels came within 15 (85-70) after junior Matt Russell (South Portland, Maine) converted a layup, but were unable to pull any closer.

Sheehan led Nichols with a team-best 18 points. Gallant and senior Sam Horning (Falmouth, Maine) added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Junior Matt Langadas (Sebago, Maine) chipped in with 10 points. Sophomore Jalen Hurst (Hartford, Conn.) pulled down a team-high eight boards.

Curry was led by senior Lambros Papalambros (Quincy, Mass.) with a game-best 21 points, while also recording eight rebounds. Junior Antonio Jones (Dorchester, Mass.) scored 15 points, while Beldo contributed 12. Beldo also dished out a game-high seven assists.

Both teams return to CCC action Thursday night, as the Bison host Western New England for a 7:30 p.m. contest, while the Colonels travel to Gordon for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
