Curry opened the first half on a 25-10 run, including six-of-six from beyond the arc. Jones accounted for four of the three-pointers, one of which capped off the run with 14:10 on the clock. Williams chipped away at the lead, trimming the deficit to four (53-49) heading into intermission after junior John Weinheimer (River Forest, Ill.) hit a jumper with three seconds remaining in the first period.
Senior James Klemm (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) sank back-to-back shots from beyond the arc to open the second frame, giving the Ephs their first lead of the game (55-53) with 18:54 left in regulation. With 1:37 on the clock, junior Michael Mayer (Durham, N.C.) extended Williams’ lead to 10 (91-81) after splitting a pair of free throws. The Colonels managed to cut the lead to three (92-89) with 36 seconds left and two (95-93) with eight seconds left, but couldn’t manage to complete the comeback as sophomore Daniel Wohl (La Canada, Canada) sank a pair from the charity stripe to secure the 97-93 victory for the Ephs.
