Stephens, Corcoran Earn CCC Weekly Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Curry College junior forward A.J. Stephens (Stamford, Conn) and sophomore forward Samantha Corcoran (Hampton, N.H.) were named as Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the period ending December 2.

Stephens averaged 19.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game last week for the Colonels. He helped lead the team to a 2-0 week, with both victories coming against CCC opponents. In an 86-73 victory over Nichols, Stephens netted 25 points, gathered 12 rebounds and shot 68% from the field (9-of-13). In the Colonels 73-62 victory over Gordon, Stephens tallied 14 points and pulled down a career high 16 rebounds.

Corcoran helped lead her team to a 3-0 week including two conference wins. In a 60-48 win over Suffolk, Corcoran scored 10 points, snagged seven rebounds, had two assists, and three blocks. She then earned a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards in the Colonels 63-50 win over Nichols. In the 13-point win, she shot 50% from the field (5-of-10), had two assists, two steals, and four blocks.  Curry then took a 58-47 road win over Gordon where Corcoran scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out four assists.
