Men's Basketball Overcomes 10-Point Halftime Deficit to Defeat CCC Rival Nichols, 86-73
MILTON, Mass. – Curry overcame a 10-point halftime deficit against visiting Nichols, then cruised to an 86-73 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men’s basketball action Wednesday night in Milton. The Colonels improved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the CCC, while Nichols fell to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Curry’s biggest lead of the first half (24-17) came with 11:41 on the clock after junior Lambros Papalambros (Quincy, Mass.) scored nine-straight points for his team. Nichols closed out the half with a 33-16 run, taking a 10-point edge (50-40) at the break. Junior Ryan Sheehan (North Attleboro, Mass.) accounted for 12 points during the run.

Sheehan scored the first bucket of the second half, stretching the Bison lead to 12 (52-40). The Colonels chipped away and eventually took the lead for good (63-62) after sophomore Antonio Jones (Boston, Mass.) converted on a layup with 9:48 remaining in regulation. Curry went on to score 23 of the game’s final 34 points, including seven from junior Sedale Jones (Pittsfield, Mass.).

Junior A.J. Stephens (Stamford, Conn) led the Colonels with team-highs in point (25) and rebounds (12). Sedale Jones added 23 points and three blocks, while Papalambros chipped in with 19. Sedale Jones and Papalambros also pulled down nine rebounds apiece.

Sheehan led all scorers with 32 points. He also had a team-high six rebounds. Sophomore Jessy Michaud (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) added 11 points.

Both teams return to CCC action on Saturday, as Curry travels to Gordon for a 3:00 p.m. contest, while Nichols hosts Western New England at 12:00 p.m.
