Men's Basketball Extends Win Streak to Five by Holding Off Western New England, 71-60
MILTON, Mass. – Senior Sedale Jones (Pittsburgh, Mass.) scored all of his team-high 19 points in the second half, leading Curry College over visiting Western New England, 71-60, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men’s basketball action Wednesday night in Milton. The Colonels improve to 16-6 overall and 13-2 in CCC play, while the Golden Bears fall to 7-15 overall and 5-10 in conference action.

Curry’s biggest lead of the first period (28-18) came after junior A.J. Stephens (Stamford, Conn.) completed a three-point play with 53 seconds on the clock. Freshman Sinclair Lewis (Bristol, Conn.) made a layup to cut WNE’s deficit to eight heading into intermission.

The Golden Bears took their only lead of the second half (35-34) after senior Damon Alston (New Britain, Conn.) converted a layup with 14:49 remaining in regulation. With 9:39 left in the second frame, junior Lambros Papalambros (Quincy, Mass.) split a pair from the charity stripe to give the Colonels their biggest lead of the game (57-38).

WNE chipped away and pulled to within eight (62-54) after freshman DeWayne Wynn (Bristol, Conn.) made a layup with 2:23 on the clock, but that was as close as the Golden Bears would come. Curry maintained a comfortable lead en route to the 71-60 final.

Sedale Jones scored 11 of his 19 points from the charity stripe. Stephens recorded a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Sophomore Antonio Jones (Boston, Mass.) added 17 points, while Papalambros scored 13.

Alston poured in a game-best 22 points. Junior Dennis Rinaldi (Harrison, N.Y.) recorded 17 points. Freshman Zack Askew (Middletown, Conn.) and Rinaldi pulled down eight boards apiece.

Both teams return to CCC action at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Colonels travel to Endicott, while the WNE hosts Eastern Nazarene.
