Men's Basketball Drops 80-42 Decision to TCCC Rival Gordon
MILTON, Mass. – Playing without its top two scorers, the Curry College men’s basketball team struggled against conference rival Gordon College, falling to the Fighting Scots, 80-42, on Saturday afternoon in Milton. Gordon improved to 6-10 overall and 2-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action, while the Colonels fell to 4-13 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Gordon’s biggest first-half lead (20-7) came after a layup by sophomore forward Caleb Perkins (Wilmington, DE). A jump shot by Curry junior guard Axel Allen (Plantation, FL) beat the first-half buzzer to cut the deficit to seven (37-30) at the break.

The Fighting Scots completely dominated the final 20 minutes, outscoring the hosts, 43-12, and shooting 66.7% from the field while holding the Colonels to just 15.6% shooting.

Gordon was led by senior forward Greg Walker (Uxbridge, MA), who poured in a game-high 17 points. Freshmen guards Luke Hamilton (Mount Airy, NC) and Park Thomas (Sterling, MA) added 15 and 10 points, respectively.  Sophomore forward David Dempsey (Wallingford, CT) contributed 11 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

Junior guard Michael Connery (Narragansett, RI) led Curry with a team-high 12 points. Senior forward Chris Bonadies (Medfield, MA) added nine while Allen contributed eight.

Both teams are off until January 27 when the Fighting Scots travel to New England College for a 7:30 p.m. contest, and the Colonels host Anna Maria with an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
