MILTON, Mass. – Curry College Athletics has announced the implementation of the Summer Spotlight series, which will feature profiles of returning student-athletes and coaches across the Colonels' 14 NCAA Division III programs.
We continue the series with Jason Cambra (El Paso, Texas), a sophomore from our football program:
How did you get into your sport? I've been playing since I was five. I started off as a center, then I got skinny and fast and now I'm a running back.
Why did you choose Curry? It was a tough decision because I live in Texas, but I felt Curry would give me the best support and help me get a job out of college.
What hobbies do you have outside of your sport? I'm a political activist. I like to work out, read books, and write poetry.
Are you involved in other activities on the Curry campus? If so, explain. I am involved in Student Government.
What is your dream job? My dream job is to be a lawyer or to be a part of Congress as a member of the House of Representatives.
What is your greatest sports moment? My greatest sports moment was when I had 411 total yards and four touchdowns on my grandmother's birthday, and my friend who passed away birthday. I dedicate that game to them.
What is your favorite thing to do off the playing surface with your teammates? My favorite thing to do is talk with my teammates, whether it's about football, classes, or even life. That bond with my teammates is very important.
Interesting fact about yourself? I started my first four years of football on the offensive line.
Three things on your "bucket list"? 1. Meet the President, 2. Win a conference title with my team, and 3. Get into a good law school.
Do you have any pregame/pre-event rituals? If so, what are they? I like to stretch and listen to loud music.
