MILTON, Mass. – Visiting Endicott College outscored Curry 35-13 in the second half en route to a 52-22 win in Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) action Saturday afternoon in Milton on Homecoming and Family Weekend. The Gulls moved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Colonels fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in league action.
Endicott opened the scoring at 10:41 of the first quarter, capping a short 10-play, 42-yard drive with a 45-yard field goal from Nick DiCairano (Trumbull, Conn.) to put the Gulls up 3-0. That score held until the second quarter.
Endicott tacked on another score at the start of the second stanza as Christian Cole (Goshen, N.Y.) hauled in a 25-yard touchdown pass from Joe Kalosky (Plymouth, Mass.). With an extra point conversion from DiCairano, the score would be pushed to 10-0 as the visitors finished off a nine-play drive in just 2:46.
With less than five minutes to go in the first half, the Colonels would get on the scoreboard as Zach Levy (Bellingham, Mass.) scampered in from 15 yards out to trim the lead to four and with the point after conversion from Nick Oliveira (East Providence, R.I.), the deficit was trimmed to just three, 10-7.
Endicott struck back quick with a two-play drive covering 57 yards in 28 seconds, being finished off by a Kalosky pass to Shea McManaway (Lisbon, Conn.) for a 12-yard touchdown conversion. Curry was able to force Endicott into a safety before the end of the half to make the score 17-9 at the break.
The Colonels scored on back-to-back drives in the second half to trim the deficit to just two (24-22). Levy had a 24-yard touchdown run while Dylan Vieira-Owens (Everett, Mass.) finished off a five-play, 73-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown reception from Nick Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y.).
Endicott closed out the game strong with four scores in the fourth quarter to blow the contest open. McManaway hurled in another touchdown reception from 17 yards out while Connor Schinderman (Chappaqua, N.Y.) had a 65-yard fumble return for a score. The final two scoring plays came from Cole on a 55-yard TD reception and an 82-yard rush from Anthony Whiteley (Pittsfield, Mass.) to increase the lead to 30, 52-22, the eventual final.
Curry held an edge in time of possession (39:31-20:29), but the Gulls outpaced the Colonels in total offense, 555-389.
Kalosky finished 19 of 29 for 245 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. Whitely posted game highs in rushing yards with 178 plus a score. McManaway had nine catches for 91 yards and two TD's while Cole posted 96 receiving yards and two scores on five receptions.
Juvelier was 26 of 44 for 219 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Levy finished with 110 yards on 17 attempts plus two scores. Mike DelGais (East Rockaway, N.Y.) posted a game-high 99 receiving yards on nine receptions.
William Rivera (Orangeburg, N.Y.) amassed a game-high 12 tackles (7 solo), including 1.5 tackles for loss (-2 yards). Christian Pizzotti (Melrose, Mass.) had nine tackles, including one for loss (-1 yard).
The Colonels' defense was led by linebacker Devin Williams (Gardner, Mass.). Williams posted eight tackles (two solo, six assists) while Cameron Sass (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Joseph Patti (Woburn, Mass.) collected five tackles apiece.
Curry begins a two-game road trip on Saturday, October 6 with a CCC Football matchup at the University of New England at 1:00 p.m. Endicott will host Nichols in league action on Saturday at noon.
