Football Places Eighth in Final Grinold Chapter New England Division III Poll

NEWTON, Mass. – The eighth and final Grinold Chapter New England Division III weekly rankings of the 2017 season have been released and the Curry College football team has placed eighth. The Colonels defeated Salve Regina by a 37-20 final in their regular-season finale.

The New England Division III Football Poll is presented by the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation, which also serves as the title sponsor of the weekly Gold Helmet Awards presented by the New England Football Writers Association throughout the season.

A 15-member panel representing all five New England Division III playing conferences will serve as voters in this year's poll, and rankings will be released each Monday afternoon through November 13. Curry head coach Skip Bandini is on this year's voting committee.

Springfield College comes in at the number one spot for the eighth straight week, capturing 149 points and 14 first-place votes. Plymouth State moves up to second with 126 points and collected the final first-place vote. Husson closes out the season third in the rankings with 107 points. Trinity and Framingham State close out the top five with 98 and 92 points, respectively.

Western New England (91), WPI (50), Curry (43), Amherst (39) and Middlebury (27) round out the bottom half of the poll.

The Colonels have been selected to play in the second annual New England Bowl when they travel to Framingham State on Saturday for a noon kickoff.
