Football Places Tenth in Grinold Chapter New England Division III Poll

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – The seventh Grinold Chapter New England Division III weekly rankings of the 2017 season have been released and the Curry College football team has placed tenth. The Colonels fell to Western New England by a 42-28 final in their last contest.

The New England Division III Football Poll is presented by the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation, which also serves as the title sponsor of the weekly Gold Helmet Awards presented by the New England Football Writers Association throughout the season.

A 15-member panel representing all five New England Division III playing conferences will serve as voters in this year's poll, and rankings will be released each Monday afternoon through November 13. Curry head coach Skip Bandini is on this year's voting committee.

Springfield College comes in at the number one spot for the seventh straight week, capturing 149 points and 14 first-place votes. Plymouth State moves up to second with 127 points and collected the final first place vote. Amherst is third in this week's rankings with 108 points. Husson and Framingham State close out the top five with 103 and 90 points, respectively.

Trinity (78), Western New England (60), WPI (34), Western Connecticut (33) and Curry (22) round out the bottom half of the poll.

The Colonels closes out the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Salve Regina for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff.
