Football Continues to Climb Grinold Chapter New England Division III Rankings

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – The third Grinold Chapter New England Division III weekly rankings of the 2017 season have been released and the Curry College football team has moved up to a tie for sixth in the poll. The Colonels have started the 2017 season strong, going 4-1, winning their last game 30-27 over UMass Dartmouth.

The New England Division III Football Poll is presented by the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation, which also serves as the title sponsor of the weekly Gold Helmet Awards presented by the New England Football Writers Association throughout the season.

A 15-member panel representing all five New England Division III playing conferences will serve as voters in this year's poll, and rankings will be released each Monday afternoon through November 13. Curry head coach Skip Bandini is on this year's voting committee.

Springfield College comes in at the number one spot for the third straight week, capturing 146 points and 11 first-place votes. Framingham State is at number two with 136 points and three first-place tallies. Trinity places third with 119 points and one first place. Middlebury sits in fourth with 97 points while Salve Regina rounds out the top five with 60 points.

Curry (44), Plymouth State (44), MIT (40), Husson (39) and Western Connecticut (33) round out the bottom half of the poll.

The Colonels open the Commonwealth Coast Football play on Saturday when they travel to Becker at 2:00 p.m.
