Football Jumps Up to Seventh in Grinold Chapter N.E. Division III Weekly Rankings

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – The second Grinold Chapter New England Division III weekly rankings of the 2017 season have been released and the Curry College football team has jumped up to seventh in the poll. The Colonels have gotten off to a great start this season, going 3-1, dropping their last game by a narrow 17-14 decision to Union.

The New England Division III Football Poll is presented by the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation, which also serves as the title sponsor of the weekly Gold Helmet Awards presented by the New England Football Writers Association throughout the season.

A 15-member panel representing all five New England Division III playing conferences will serve as voters in this year's poll, and rankings will be released each Monday afternoon through November 13. Curry head coach Skip Bandini is on this year's voting committee.

Springfield College comes in at the number one spot, capturing 145 points and 10 first-place votes. Framingham State sits at number two with 136 points and five first-place tallies. Trinity places third with 120 votes. Amherst collects 85 points and the final first-place vote to land fourth. Middlebury closes out the top five with 64 points.

Salve Regina (64), Curry (41), MIT (36), Plymouth State (34) and Husson (27) round out the bottom half of the poll.

The Colonels return to the field on Saturday when they host UMass.-Dartmouth at 1:00 p.m.
