Football Checks in at No. 8 in First Grinold Chapter N.E. Division III Weekly Rankings

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – The first Grinold Chapter New England Division III weekly rankings of the 2017 season have been released and the Curry College Football Team has landed eighth in the poll. The Colonels have gotten off to a great start this season, going 3-1, dropping their last game by a narrow 17-14 decision to Union on Saturday.

The New England Division III Football Poll is presented by the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation, which also serves as the title sponsor of the weekly Gold Helmet Awards presented by the New England Football Writers Association throughout the season.

A 15-member panel representing all five New England Division III playing conferences will serve as voters in this year's poll, and rankings will be released each Monday afternoon through November 13. Curry head coach Skip Bandini is on this year's voting committee.

Springfield College comes in at the number one spot, capturing 144 points and nine first-place votes. Framingham State sits at number two with 134 points and five first-place tallies. Trinity, Western Connecticut, and Salve Regina round out the top five.

Amherst collects the final first-place vote as they are in the sixth spot in this week's poll. Middlebury, Curry, Coast Guard and Williams round out the first poll.

Curry is on a bye this week and will return to the field on October 7 when they host UMass.-Dartmouth at 1:00 p.m.
