Cheerleading Team Earns First-Ever Silver Paid Bid to NCA Nationals

BOSTON, Mass. - The Curry College Cheerleading Team has once again secured a spot in next April's National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Nationals as the Colonels earned their first-ever Silver Paid bid.  Curry Cheer received the Silver Paid Bid, partially-paid bid, by winning NCA Staff votes at the NCA College Cheer Camp, held at Boston University.

The three-day camp began on Sunday, July 26 with the Colonels learning new cheer skills to use throughout the upcoming season. In addition to skill development, Curry was one of 30 teams competing for one of the coveted paid bids to NCA College Nationals. The 2016 NCA College Nationals will be held in Dayton Beach, Florida from April 5-10.

"After 13 years of Curry attending this camp this was the most successful and enjoyable experience for the team," said Head Coach Nicole Bello.  "I am so proud of our team for their enthusiasm and hard work over a very long three days. We are excited to bring all the material learned at the camp to our football and basketball games to show the fans why we won the Silver Paid Bid. We are looking forward to building on this win for our upcoming season."

In addition to earning the Silver Paid Bid, Curry was selected from its division to compete in the Game Day Run Off. Two teams from each division were selected, and again this was a first-time honor for Curry. "We hope the fans enjoy our Game Day material as much as the judges did," Bello said.

The team placed third in its division for the Rally Routine portion of the Camp.

Added Bello: "We thank all the alumni and parents that were there to support the team. Bring on the 2015-2016 season!"
