Cheerleading Team Once Again Preparing for Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida
MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Cheerleading Team is preparing over the next five weeks for their return to NCA/NDA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Last year they scored an 8.193 out of 10.0 with deductions at the preliminary competition which brought them to the finals mat. Their overall score was an 8.203 at the Finals competition with deductions. Both scores are the highest scores Curry Cheerleading has ever scored, making history once again.

Every year, All-Girl III is one of the most challenging divisions at NCA Nationals. In the next few weeks we will know the line-up for our competition. There are usually 250 teams that attend the competition with us. Kayla Woods, the Captain and Senior of the team said: “Nationals is the opportunity for eyes to finally be on us. We support two other teams throughout the year and Nationals is our time to show what we have accomplished. It’s the one time we have fans rooting for us and it is the most amazing feeling in the world. All the bumps, bruises and tears suddenly become worth it as soon as we step on the mat.”

The team has been performing a portion of their routine at the half-time performances during the men’s basketball games. They will throw double-session practices over the Spring Break and will compete on March 17 and March 23.

“When asked what College Nationals means to me, its hard to form the words," said Head Coach Nicole Bello. "Last year was my first year being back as the coach of the team and third year of bringing the Curry Cheerleaders to Nationals. But my first time getting them to the finals mat, and the emotions of them making it and beating their scores of the previous year was like the men’s basketball team winning the CCC Championship on February 23."

"We start out in May with tryouts and for one entire year the team is given a grueling schedule. Some can take the heat, and we do lose some throughout the year, but the ones that stick it out are the Champions in my eyes,” added Bello.

The Cheerleaders will perform their entire Nationals routine on Saturday, April 6 at 5:00pm in Miller Gymnasium. The cost is $2.00 for Curry Students and $5.00 for Adults.

Go cheer on our Cheerleaders!
