FRANKLIN, Mass. - The Curry College Baseball team defeated non-conference opponent Dean College 6-2 Wednesday afternoon.
With the win on the road, Curry improves to 11-19 overall this season.
The Colonels hit the ground running in the road contest Wednesday afternoon. Curry freshman outfielder Brett Heggs (Taunton, Mass.) led off the day with a triple down the right-field line. Just two at-bats later, senior first-baseman Jason Leonard (Dedham, Mass.) homered to right-center, driving Heggs into home and putting the Colonels up 2-0. The dominant batting by the Colonels continued shortly after as Conor Hanlon (Beverly, Mass.) marked the second two-run homer of the afternoon, bringing the Curry lead to 4-0.
The hosting Bulldogs marked a sole run in the bottom of the first to close in on the four-run lead held by the Colonels.
Curry furthered their lead in the top of the second, Tommy Marshall (Hanson, Mass.) singling to right-center, batting in Heggs for his second score of the afternoon.
A wild pitch in the top of the fourth from Bulldog's Eric Lucey pushed the Colonels around the bases, allowing Garrett Fosher (Exeter, N.H.) to score.
Curry would hold the Bulldogs to just one run in the bottom of the fifth, taking the non-conference road contest by a final score of 6-2.
