MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College baseball team pounded out 14 hits en route to a 10-2 victory over visiting Becker College on Tuesday afternoon at the Jack Vallely Diamond. The win sends the Colonels to 8-10 while the Hawks slip to 7-19 overall.

Becker got on the board in the top of the first, thanks to an RBI groundout from Kevin Perez (Jersey City, N.J.) which scored Chris Testa (Providence, R.I.).

Curry would grab the equalizer plus three more in the bottom of the frame to grab a 4-1 advantage. After a leadoff single from Jhonathan Oliveira (Peabody, Mass.) and a John Cave (Tewksbury, Mass.) walk, Justin Cage (Glendora, Calif.) came to the plate and crushed a three-run bomb to right field to give the Colonels the 3-1 lead. The Colonels grabbed one more after Dylan Ketterer (Plymouth, Mass.) grounded out the pitcher to score Tyler Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.) from third to make it a three-run lead.

Curry's next scoring opportunity came in the fifth. After a double to center from Michael Moreau (Marshfield, Mass.) and Adam Duarte (East Providence, R.I.) reaching on a dropped third strike, Mitchell Carvalho (Cranston, R.I.) stepped to the plate and singled to right field. An error by the right fielder allowed Moreau to score from second to make the score 8-1.

Curry then tacked on two in the next frame. With one out on the board, John Sapia (Atkinson, N.H.) flew out to right and then an error on the pitcher plated Jenkins and Cage to push the score to 10-1.

Becker got one run back in the seventh after Michael McMahon (Canton, Mass.) singled up the middle to score Mel Gonzalez (Worcester, Mass.). The Hawks were unable to get any more runs across as the Colonels captured the contest by an eight-run margin.

Moreau led the Colonels with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate. Cage had a huge day going 2-for-4 with four RBI's and three runs scored. Jenkins and Carvalho also finished with two hits each for Curry.

Testa, Josiah Shepard (Providence, R.I.), and McMahon led the way for Becker with one hit apiece.

David Griffin (Hanover, Mass.) picked up the victory on the hill, tossing six innings. The senior only allowed one run on two hits while striking out seven and walking two. Zachary Wensley (Raynham, Mass.) threw the final three innings, surrendering only one run on one hit. He struck out three and walked two to close his stat line.

Curry will return to action on Wednesday, April 18 in a road contest at Dean at 3:30 p.m. Becker will next play at Anna Maria on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
