BABSON PARK, Mass. — The Curry College baseball dropped a 17-1 non-conference decision to Babson College in eight innings on Thursday afternoon at Govoni Field.

Babson, which has won two straight, improves to 9-7 on the year, while Curry falls to 3-6 overall with its second consecutive loss.

Lennon and Valente each had three hits and Oliger went 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored for the Beavers. Junior Connor Gill (Sterling, Mass.) drove in two runs, first-year Peter Feinman (Virginia Beach, Va.) went 2-for-2 and junior Nicholas Browne (Mount Laurel, N.J.) contributed a two-run homer in the win.

Sophomore Edward Lehr (Byram Township, N.J.), the first of five pitchers to work for Babson, allowed one run on two hits over four innings to improve to 1-1 with the win. Four relievers struck out nine while allowing no hits and issuing just one walk over the final four frames.

Junior Tyler Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.) homered off the scoreboard in left in the second inning for the Colonels. Sophomore James Mello (Fall River, Mass.), who fell to 0-2, allowed five runs on three hits and four walks before being replaced with two outs in the first.

The Green and White took advantage of five free passes by scoring six times with two outs in the first inning. Valente and Oliger both came through with two-run knocks, Lennon followed with an RBI single up the middle, and the Beavers tacked on another run when Gill's grounder to shortstop was mishandled to build a 6-0 advantage.

Oliger and Gill both produced two-run singles to make it 10-1 in the second, and Lennon drove in two more runs with a two-out single to center in the third to extend the margin to 12-1. Feinman reached on an infield single and scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Browne drilled a two-run homer to right center as part of a four-run seventh to make it 17-1.

Curry took advantage of a walk and a hit batsman to put a pair of runners on with one out in the top of the seventh, but Beavers' sophomore William Gallagher (Kingston, Mass.) recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat.

Both teams return to action on Friday as Babson travels to Johnson & Wales at 3:00 p.m., while Curry visits Eastern Nazarene for a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
