Paul Bortolotti Promoted to Curry Baseball Head Coach

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Paul Bortolotti as the new Colonels Baseball Head Coach. Bortolotti brings years of experience to the Curry dugout, serving the last seven seasons as an Assistant/Pitching Coach for the Colonels.

"I'm honored and excited for this opportunity to coach the Colonels baseball team," Bortolotti said. "I have big shoes to fill from Coach Perdios and look forward to the challenges ahead. I am fortunate to have good leadership with our upperclassmen who are instrumental to the success of the younger student-athletes on the field and in the classroom."

Bortolotti takes over a program that tallied a 15-20 overall record, including a 10-6 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) last season. Curry earned a berth in the CCC Tournament as the number four seed and clinched a first round home game.

He played baseball at Milton (Mass.) High School, where he achieved all-scholastic honors, led his team to the Division I Eastern Mass. State Championship in 1974, and was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. Bortolotti played his college ball at UMass Amherst, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in business management/accounting.

During his college years, Bortolotti pitched for Mass. Envelope of the Boston Park League, and for the Natick Knights of the Stan Musial League. He finished his playing career as a player/coach with the Braintree White Sox of the South Shore Coast/Cranberry League.

Active in baseball and softball camps and clinics, Bortolotti coached the Bay State Strikers 18U Junior Olympic softball team to a 2007 Class A State title.

He runs his family's third-generation plastering business in Milton, which was started in 1923. His daughter Jenna graduated from Endicott College and was a member of the Gulls' women's softball team. She earned the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) "Pitcher of the Year" award in 2010 and 2011. His son Mike attended Babson College, a member of the Beavers' baseball team, and an all-conference performer in 2011 and 2013.

Paul is an outstanding man and coach and I could not think of a better person to lead our baseball student-athletes," Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione said.  "His hard work and attention to detail will be great attributes for his players to see on a daily basis. Paul's knowledge of the program, the conference, and the Curry Baseball student-athletes will be extremely beneficial for this transition."
