Baseball Captures 4-1, 10-Inning CCC Victory at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. - Finishing game two of a halted doubleheader from last week, Curry College's Matt Rodriguez (Sr./Quincy, Mass.) RBI doubled in the 10th and Tanner Givens (So./Hamden, Conn.) two-RBI singled on the next at bat to lift the Colonels to a 4-1 win over the host Fighting Scots today at J. Tec White Field.

Curry improves to 5-9-2 overall, 3-3 in conference with the victory while Gordon moves to 12-8 overall and an even 3-3 in league play.

Zach Walker (Sr./Hingham, Mass.) improved to 1-0 on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings and giving up just two hits and no earned runs for the win. John Kanas (Sr./East Moriches, N.Y.), now 2-1 on the year, took the loss for the Scots.

With two scoreless innings already in the books, the Colonels got on the board first when Matt Warren (So./Wilbraham, Mass.) singled to score Ryan Mulry (Fr./Hopedale, Mass.) for the 1-0 lead. Though it took an inning to do so, the Scots responded in the bottom half of four off a Ben Davidson (Sr./Sterling, Mass.) RBI single which plated Brian Harrington (Sr./Shoreham, N.Y.) for the equalizer.

From there both teams struggled to gain traction on offense until Rodriguez and Givens' late heroics registered the game-winning runs for Curry.

The Scots look to stop their three-game skid at home tomorrow against non-conference UMass Dartmouth at 3 p.m., while the Colonels will travel for a non-league tilt of their own at Keene State tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
