Sports Information Wraps Up "Thank Your SID Week" with their Final Stat of the Day

MILTON, Mass. – Today, the Curry College Sports Information Office wraps up the week by posting our final Stat of the Day, highlighting our student-athletes and athletic staff as a way to celebrate CoSIDA's "Thank Your SID Week."

Today's stat of the day is 25 Seasons

In the spring of 2020, Bruce Weckworth will enter his 25th Season as the Head Coach of Curry College Softball. Over his past 24 years at the helm, Coach Weckworth has accumulated 514 Wins and a .545 Winning Percentage, which are both Program Bests for Curry Softball. After appearing in just one Conference Tournament prior to Coach Weckworth's arrival, the Colonels have since enjoyed 22 CCC/TCCC Tournament Births (including a string of 20 straight!), 6 CCC Finals Appearances, and 2 Conference Championships!

Wednesday's stat of the day was 5.9 Assists per Set.

Over her career at Curry, senior Lex Bell (Salem, Conn.) registered 5.9 assists per set, which set the Curry Women's Volleyball Record amongst players with at least 100 sets played, shattering the previous mark of 3.5. Bell also set Curry records for Most Assists per Set in a Season (7.89, 2018), Most Assists in a Season (686, 2018), and Most Assists in a Career (1,044).

Thursday's stat of the day was 199 Yards Allowed.

In their CCC Football victory this past Saturday, our Curry College Football team held their opponents, the Becker College Hawks, to just 199 Yards of Total Offense, 50 yards less than the Hawks' per-game average. The Colonels also held their foes under their season averages in Rushing Yards (192), Passing Yards (7), and Points Scored (6).

Friday's stat of the day was 12 Records.

Emily Irwin '19 finished her career at Curry holding 12 Records for the Women's Basketball program. Irwin set game records in Points (36, Tied), Field Goal Attempts (37), Free Throws Made (16, Tied) and Steals (15). Irwin set season records in Free Throws Made (157), Free Throw Attempts (242), and Steals (145), and set career records in Points (1,657), Field Goal Attempts (1,477), Free Throws Made (538), Free Throws Attempted (784), and Steals (486). In her senior season last year, Irwin led all of NCAA Division III in Steals (130) and Steals per Game (5.0).

Saturday's stat of the day was 2.42 Goals Against.

As a junior last season, goalie Justin Ketola turned in the fifth best Goals Against Average in a season in Curry Hockey program history with 2.42. Ketola entered his senior season with the best career-mark in Curry history. After a pair of wins over nationally ranked teams to start the 2019-20 season, Ketola was named CCC Goaltender of the Week on November 5, alongside teammates Alex Ochterbeck (Player of the Week) and Mark Zhukov (Rookie of the Week).

Sunday's stat of the day was 64 Points

After putting up career highs this season in Goals (13), Assists (6), Points (32), Shots (118), and Shots-on-Goal (67), junior Tayla Randall finished this season ranked tenth all-time in Career Points (64) in Curry Women's Soccer program history. Randall also will enter her senior season tied for tenth in Career Goals at Curry (26), thanks largely in part to her four-goal performance against Eastern Nazarene this year, which also tied a program record (Most Goals in a Game).

Monday's stat of the day was 66 Games Played.

With the final contest of the 2019 Season, Devin Newell '19 played in his 66th game, tying the Curry Men's Lacrosse Program Record for Most in a Career. Newell finished the year as Curry's All-Time Leader in Career Assists (85) and Career Points (207). In 2019, Newell also teamed up with classmate Kyle Ton '19 to put up the Most Goals by a Duo in a Season in Curry History (89) and the Most Goals by a Trio in a Season (116), alongside Ton and current senior Harrison Fallon.
