Curry College SAAC Facilitates Pay It Forward Day

MILTON, Mass. – On Wednesday, November 15 Pay It Forward Day returned to the Curry College Community. Members of the Curry College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) comprised of Athletes from teams all across campus continued the November tradition for the fourth straight year. "Pay It Forward" Day is a simple concept of spreading some good will and smiles across campus by doing random acts of kindness and urging people to do the same.

In the morning student-athletes served free Dunkin Donuts coffee and munchkins in the Hafer Academic Building to the delight of many faculty, staff, and students. The message was simple: have a great day and do something nice for someone else today. If you were lucky, you also got to ride on the Pay It Forward Day shuttle which picked students up across campus and brought you to class, or breakfast. Curry SAAC President Bianca Simeone (Women's Lacrosse) who drove the shuttle said, "Putting aside a few hours of my time for Pay It Forward Day was refreshing. Driving students all morning was great, and I met a bunch of new people who were all very appreciative for the ride."

Throughout the day SAAC members handed out cards encouraging everyone to do something nice for someone else. The back of the cards gave suggestions on random acts of kindness people could do around campus. Later that morning as a campus-wide staff meeting ended SAAC members handed out individual Thank You cards to members of the Curry community and thanked them for their dedication to the campus.

In the afternoon the second group of student-athletes handed out single carnations to people on campus. Hoping to simply brighten someone's day. SAAC members also held doors across campus, complimented people and wished them a wonderful day.

Curry SAAC member Claudio Orsini (Men's Soccer) said, "On Pay It Forward Day, there was just an energy that was felt by everyone involved. It was such a great feeling to put a smile on someone's face with a simple act."

The Curry College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is headed by Men's Soccer Coach Peter Mendel and includes team members from all varsity sports on campus.
