MILTON, Mass. – On Sat., Sept. 9, the Curry College Men's Basketball and Softball teams took part in the Dan Breen Memorial 5K Red Shoe Run/Walk. Eight men's basketball student-athletes and twenty-four women's softball student-athletes took part in the event, volunteering to run the water stations, direct and cheer on runners, as well as aiding in set up and clean up for the event. The Red Shoe Run is a 5K through historic Milton, Mass. in honor of Dan Breen, a beloved friend to many. Dan's love for his family, friends, team members, and faith was embraced and appreciated by all who met him. An avid rugby player, a devoted student at St. Anselm's College, a dedicated team member of the Emergency Department at Beth Israel Deaconess-Milton Hospital and so much more, Dan defined the phrase "All-American." As a team member in the Emergency Department, Dan was loved by all those around him. His enthusiasm and humor is simply irreplaceable, and we will never forget, his "awful red shoes" that only he loved.

"The players really enjoyed being part of such a special event," said Colonels' Head Men's Basketball Coach Matt LeVangie. "We look forward to being part of it again next year. It was a perfect weather day for the runners and walkers and both teams did a lot of cheering for the runners," offered Head Softball Coach Bruce Weckworth.
